DGA Race To Wales Order of Merit Winner 2013.

This year I took part in the Disabled Golf Associations Race to Wales tour. It was against grown men I was the only Junior to take part but played off mens tees the same as the others. We played 9 different events around Wales and one in England and you got points for turning up and points for where you placed.

Event 1 was Peterstone Lakes....very wet day but played my best round to that date and won the competition.

Event 2 was Cradoc, unfortunately I had to withdraw because my Autism got the better of me and I had a complete meltdown on the course.

Event 3 was Wernddu and even tho I didn't have the best of days that day either I got 3rd place.

Event 4 was Alice Springs and that was very close between me and a good friend Mark Meritt but I ended up in 2nd place but did win the secret 3 holes competition and also scored a 3 on a par 4 on the first.

Event 5 was Brynmeadows....I had my first win there last year and looked forward to playing it again....my front nine wasn't amazing but I played a good back nine scoring 26 stableford points, this helped me to get the win again.

Event 6 was The Glamorganshire.....I really liked this course and played well despite my tourettes being really bad that day and interfering with my golf....I won this one aswell.

Event 7 was Raglan, it was a really hot day and my tourettes and autism and anxiety was so bad I almost didn't go, I didn't play my best and didn't place but I did get Closest to the Pin.

Event 8 was Rhondda, it was also the DGA Wales Open. It was awful weather, bad wind and heavy rain. I struggled a lot but so did everyone, I managed to place 3rd place.

Event 9 was Forest Hills, it was actually in England but still a Race To Wales event. I liked the course but the greens were not best because they were treated that day. I did ok and placed 3rd.

At the Wales v England game where I played for Wales I was announced as the Race to Wales Order of Merit winner.

The write up about my win is here.....http://www.disabledgolfsociety.com/inaugural-race-to-wales-2013-tour-winner-jordan-rosser/

Golf Development Wales Interview about Inclusive Golf.

Zoe from GDW asked we to do an interview about inclusive golf, it was great to do and will in time be shared on their You Tube account, I was also filmed and photographed on the range too.

Pontypridd Golf Club Awards Night.

I was ill the day of the awards so didnt know if id make it but I did. I got mentioned for National honours for playing for Wales with the Disabled Golf Association, I was also part of the 1st team that won the league as i'd played once with them so we all got medals for that. I also won Outstanding Achievement for how well ive done this year with my golf and disabled golf which i was really pleased about, I didn't expect to win anything :)

Volunteering with Valleys Golf.

Since doing the Junior Leader course ive been volunteering with Valleys Golf at the coaching they do, I help at the disabled coaching. It is another step on my way to train as a PGA coach when im 18. David Pocock is going to take me under his wing and do a 4 year plan to help me get to where I need to be at 18.

Junior Leader Course.

My goal is to become a PGA coach and to become an ISPSHanda Golf Academy coach to teach disabled golfers. I started the long journey to my goal in October by doing the Junior Leader course. It was a great day and I learnt a lot.

The Vale Social Golf and Awards night.

On October 26th 2013 it was The Vale's Social golf and awards night. David Lamb asked me if id like to join in and play and my dad could be my caddy as I can use the disabled rules there and then in the awards he would give me my Race to Wales cup. I really enjoyed the day, I played with David Lamb and Brodi Lewis, it was Texas Scramble over 13 holes as a team so no pressure. I loved the fact David Lamb let us kids hole out and didn't take the glory by doing it himself. We went in the clubhouse then and had food then the awards night and David Lamb presented me with my Race to Wales cup :)

DGA Wales v England.

In September I played on the DGA's Wales team in the inaugural match against England. We played at one of my clubs, Pontypridd. Pontypridd Golf Club put the event on for free for the DGA including food too and buggys. When we arrived we met up in our teams and had our tshirts and team talks then after our rolls we went to warm up and then have team photos. I was also interviewed for the telly. Then we teed off, I was paired with Nicki Jones.  The front nine was pairs and the back nine was singles. I held my own on the front nine but the back nine was hard with 2 very long holes plus a strong opponent off a lower handicap plus me off only 3/4 of mine. On the day England won. I played my best but got beaten by a better player on the day.

DGA Forest Hills.

On the 10th of September I played the Race to Wales event at Forest Hills. I played ok but not my best, I struggled a bit to keep my head after any bad shots I did but I managed to get 31 points and came 3rd. I loved the course and would like to go to play it again.

ISPSHanda Wales Open 2013

I was lucky enough to have Season tickets off Craig for the Welsh Open so we went on the Friday and the Sunday. On the Friday I had a lesson in the ISPSHanda Academy nets with Craig and he got my swing back on track. Then we headed down to the range and saw JBE Kruger practicing and his caddy came over and said Hi then after he had finished putting practice they both said Hi and gave me knuckle punches for luck and gave me a ball. We followed them for a few holes and then made our way over to Hole 10 grabbing food on the way. On hole 10 after a bit JBE Kruger came through and after playing out the hole he said Hi as he passed and threw me his ball and his caddy gave me a high five so I wished them luck and said keep it up as he was playing well at that point. We slowly headed back to the tented village watching games as we walked back then headed home. Unfortunately JBE Kruger didn't make the cut so I didn't get to watch him Sunday.
On Sunday I had another lesson on the nets to recap on what i'd learnt on Friday. Then we headed to the 18th and sat there for a bit and watched players finishing 18. Me n dad walked over to the range and 1st tee for a look too then headed back to hole 18. After a while we wandered over to watch hole 17 because it played difficult all weekend for them. Then we headed home and watched the end on telly.

ISPSHanda Wales Open ProAm 2013 at Celtic Manor.

I was so lucky to be invited by Craig Thomas to take part in the ISPSHanda Welsh Open Pro Am this year as a birthday present off the ISPSHanda Golf Academy. We arrived at The lodge and had our lockers and gifts...an Ashworth T-Shirt and Footjoy golf shoes :) Then we got taken down to the 2010 clubhouse in one of the Black transport vans. We had breakfast in the Samuel Ryder suite and thats were I saw Craig Thomas and also saw Robin Spring again (met him at the sponsors day in April). I also met some of the other disabled golfers and also some i'd already met. I then went down to the 2010 range and that was so weird walking into the range where the Pro's were playing, some of the older juniors from my club were there as they were caddying for others. I was a few places away from Darren Clarke! I did some practice then went to the chipping and putting area for a bit. ISPSHanda also had a clinic so Craig gave me a few tips for the day. Mike Tindall and his wife were there but I only follow golf so didn't really know who he was. It was a shotgun start and my starting hole was hole 18...bit of a biggy hole wise. I was really pleased when I found out my Pro was JBE Kruger, ive always liked him and he has a great routine before he tee's off. I put a lot of pressure on myself so my first four holes I kind of got stressed but didn't do too bad for the round, got 3 course pars and a few course bogeys. Hole 10 was the par 3 challenge to raise money for ISPSHanda...I got on the green in one. On hole 15 there was a back up so I was waiting on the tee the same time as Jimenez and tee'd off in front of him! Hole 17 was our finishing hole, it caused lots of problems in the Welsh Open but I got a course par on it the same as JBE Kruger. JBE Kruger also gave us a goody bag which was cool. We then went back to the 2010 clubhouse and I spoke to Phillip Price and had a photo with him. We had food sat on the balcony that Europe stood on to spray champagne when they won the Ryder Cup. Our group didn't win but it was an amazing experience and brilliant day. Just before leaving I had a photo with the 2014 Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley. We were transported back then to The Lodge and a famous Welsh rugby player gave up his seat for mam but again I didnt realise as I dont follow rugby. I cant thank ISPSHanda and Craig Thomas enough for the chances ive been given this year.

Whitchurch Junior Open.

On August 19th I played in the Whitchurch Junior Open. I didn't get off to a good start and it set my round up as it was going to keep on, unfortunately I lost my head and had a mini meltdown on the course. I plodded on between it all and came in with a gross of 99 and net of 72.

DGA Wales Disabled Open at Rhondda.

On August 15th I took part in the Wales Disabled Open that the Disabled Golf Association ran at Rhondda golf club. The weather was awful, heavy rain and bad winds. The course played really hard and combined with slow play which I can't stand it was a very tough day. I played as best i could and managed 31 stableford points and also came in 3rd place and got more points towards my position in the Race to Wales.
