Wales Open Gala Dinner and ProAm

My coach Craig Thomas gave me the opportunity of a life time and invited me to the Wales Open Gala dinner and to play in the ProAm. The Gala dinner was amazing, we all met up in the main Celtic Manor hotel were I've never been before and I met so many people old and new. We were taken to the Waitrose Pavilion for the gala dinner. There were business men, television stars, rugby players, famous golf pros and all my disabled golfing friends. I was amazed when I was called up to receive and award from The PGA and ISPSHanda in recognition of all I do for and in disabled golf, I felt so proud and also did a short speech. It was an amazing evening :) The following day was the ProAm and it started with practice on the range then on to our starting holes. My Pro was Paul Lawrie. Lovely guy, chatted to us all and encouraging too. I played ok, played to my handicap. Afterwards at prize giving I got the chance to speak to Midori Miyasaki and thank her personally for the amazing opportunities I've been given thru ISPSHanda.

DGA Wales v England Internationals.

I played for the Disabled Golf Associations Wales team against England in the 2 day international event. In the pairs comp I played well but our pairing wasn't good enough to beat the opposition but on the second day for the singles matchplay matches I won it on hole 12 7 and 6. It was a great two days and brilliantly organised by England DGA and a lovely course aswell.

WDGA Wales Open.

Forgot to write this one as well, played in the WDGA Wales Open at Brynmeadows Golf Club in the summer, love the course but didn't have the best of days but got closest to the pin.

RCT Future Champions Bursary Award.

I am on the RCT Future Champions programme and I was very lucky to receive a bursary to pay for custom fitted irons. I was custom fitted for Mizuno MP54's.

WDGA Race to Wales St Andrews Major.

This was the last Race to Wales event and I played it to get some points but the course was one of the worst I've ever played and I didn't enjoy the day at all so definitely wont be playing there again. I came 4th.

Volunteering at The Wales Open.

I volunteered again with Golf Development Wales at The Wales Open, it was a very busy day but I really enjoyed it and hope to be able to volunteer again.

Rhondda Golf Club Junior Wyn Hughes Cup and Tom Parry Cup.

I won the Junior Wyn Hughes Cup and also Ewan and me won the Tom Parry cup.

WDGA Race to Coed Y Mwster.

I didn't really like the golf course but I got 2nd so it was points towards the Race to Wales.

Rhondda Golf Club Junior Championship Nett Final.

I made it through to the Junior Championship Nett final, I never thought id qualify and definitely never thought id make the final. Unfortunately I didn't win my finals match.

Tenby Golf Club Junior Open 2014.

Tenby Golf Club agreed to use the R&A adjusted rules for disabled golfers so I was able to play in their Junior Open this year. I love Tenby golf course so was really happy I could take part. I played in the White box medal competition and I won White Box Nett :)

2014 Senior Open at Royal Porthcawl Volunteering.

This year the Seniors Open was in Royal Porthcawl. I volunteered for two of the days with Golf Development Wales and had a great time. I also saw Pedro Linhart and got to have a chat to him again aswell :)

ISPSHanda PGA Seniors Championship 2014 ProAm.

I thought I had already posted a blog about this but I cant find it, this was June 2014. My coach Craig Thomas who is the ISPSHanda coach invited me to play in the Pro Am at Stoke by Neyland. It was an awesome opportunity and an amazing day. The course was in brilliant condition and I had a really good round. I played with Pedro Linhart, he was a real gentleman and really encouraging and supportive. I managed to get a lot of points for the team and our team came 3rd :)

Sorry.....

Sorry I haven't kept the blog up to date, ive been so busy with golf and home-schooling but I am updating it now.

Gareth Hughes Plaque Medal Comp.

I played in the Gareth Hughes Plaque Medal Comp and played awesome golf and had my lowest round to date....85 gross so 63 nett....nice handicap drop and won the comp.

Rhondda Junior 1st Team V Radyr.

I played on the main 1st team against Radyr, originally we were meant to be the 3rd group out but a flat tyre for the team captain meant we went out second. Very tough course and I played really well and again carried my partner quite a bit, we again went 4 down and did fight back but then got beaten on hole 17.

Rhondda Junior 1st Team V Aberdare away.

I was on the main junior 1st team against Aberdare, I was in the 3rd group out. I played really well and carried my partner a lot too, we were 4 down but fought back to all square but we lost the last hole.

Pro-Am at the Ladies European Tour ISPSHanda Masters at The Buckinghamshire.

I was really lucky to be invited to play in the pro-am at the LET ISPSHanda Masters at The Buckinghamshire by my coach Craig Thomas and The ISPSHanda Academy. We got there early so that I could warm up on the putting green and chipping area and in the nets. The putting green and chipping area was full of Pro's and its amazing to be able to prepare along side them. It was awesome to catch up with one of the Pro's I played with last year, Whitney Hillier, she stopped to chat for ages and was really encouraging and also had a photo taken with me. I teed off at 1:30pm and played with @shortarmgolfer aka Tony Lloyd and @Fozzie1989 aka Chris Foster and our Pro was Sophie Walker. Sophie was lovely and chatted to me and encouraged me loads. I played ok, few dodgy shots but overall played really well. Had a fantastic day on a fab course :)
